    Information

I'm Jonathon Campbell and I'm currently living in Tasmania and I am interested in becoming a farmhand or jackaroo within your cooperation. I would like to gain experience within the cropping and livestock industry. I haven’t had much experience working on a farm or large scale operation but am eager to have a go and put in the hard work to learn new skills and have knowledge that I can use in the future and pass on to others. During my time working with my father on our sheep and beef property, I have done lamb-marking and woolpressing which isn’t an easy job. In my opinion, I have learnt the meaning ‘hard work’ from this. In 2014, I completed a dairy pre-employment training course at Alanvale Tafe Tasmania which teaches us: basic fencing skills, quad bike safety, OHS in agriculture, pasture management, animal welfare and diseases that can affect milk production and quality which will help me. I would really like to learn to ride a horse from a basic level through to an advanced rider and the same goes to riding a motorbike. I would like to become to skilled and work hard to become a skillful employee. Through a variety of jobs I have learnt about safely working with and around machinery. My work experience, which I believe will assist me in this position, includes working on my father’s farm; greens keeper's assistant at Barnbougle; along with other positions which have provided me with experience, knowledge, the ability to work in a team and unsupervised, and further developed an already an excellent work ethic. I am also willing to undertake my certificate in agriculture while working for you if its possible.I am a committed, hard working, energetic young gentleman. If you were to employ me I can promise you will not have any regrets. I am also prepared to move if successful. Enclosed is my resume for your review. Thank you for considering me for this position and am looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks Jonathon Campbell

'He worked for us for about 12 months as a 1st year apprentice. Started doing basic jobs like learning to load trucks and help out safely. We do a lot of furniture fit outs and he progressed into learning how to build those. He was good with the tools and he always looked after them. He took an interest in everything and as an apprentice was willing learn. Some apprentices don't actively look for things to do when quiet but Jonathan did. He was happy to sweep, clean and even clean toilets. He would also let me know if we were running low on hand towels or paper. He communicated well even though he had a slight speech impediment he took that on board and worked with it. He didn't seemed embarrassed of it even when the others would sometimes reel him in.'

'Josie came to us from a polo stable where she was a stable hand/ strapper. She could ride a horse well enough but still needs work on her 2 wheel motor bike skills. She had to learn also how to work cattle but she was very keen and mastered that well enough. I could not fault her work ethic as she was always looking for something to do. I would recommend her.'

Pretty good communication skills. He has never had any workers work under his charge. I have no reservations in recommending him.'

'Brooke helped me out on and off about two years ago. We have a horse adjustment business in the northern suburbs of Perth in WA. General animal care and hygiene and property maintenance were here main duties. She also had to deal with a lot of our clients, who need a lot of reassurance surrounding the care of their animals. Considering her age at the time, she was great, most her age are awful. Brooke has a brain, she is a good worker, she gets in and gets the job done. I would ask her to do something and I knew I didn’t have to worry, it would be done well, she understood the importance of doing a job once and well. She is sharp, quite shy which made it a bit difficult to have a conversation at the beginning but she definitely got better with time. She is at the high end of good workers. I would have no dramas in recommending her, she definitely has a brain. You could put her anywhere, she would cope with remote work, she really isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. '

    Information

I have grown up on a small beef cattle property north of Canberra and have always had a strong interest in Agriculture. Throughout high school I worked casually on a nearby wool and fat lamb property developing a strong interest in the sheep sector, I have worked as a rouseabout on other properties and am currently completing a certificate IV in wool classing via distance. Because of my interest in sheep and cattle I decided to study Vet Science at university. I will be in second year in 2019 and upon graduation I would like to become a mixed/large animal vet in a rural area. Coming from a grazing area I have had limited exposure to cropping. Aside from small amounts of cultivation and fodder conservation undertaken at home. For this reason I am very interest to learn about the day to day operations of a cropping operation.

' Josh was here casually about 12 months ago, for 2 or 3 years prior to that. He helped out with general kind of stuff, helping in the shed at shearing, fencing, spraying – those kind of things. His work ethic was ok, he worked alongside me most of the time so as long as I explained what needed to be done, he was pretty good. I had no worries with him being on time, he was always early and always turned up. He’ll be fine wherever he is, I have no hesitations in recommending him for any employment'

I am a very confident and able machinery operator working a lot with modern tractors including ploughing, power harrows, silage & bailage making, loader work, feeding out with numerous types of feed wagons etc and know that driving is one of my many strengths. I am also very mechanically minded and have done repairs and maintenance on tractors, quad bikes, 4wd vehicles, trucks and farm implements as well as wielding with MIG, arc and oxy acetylene for many years. Its my passion.... Anyway enough about me I am a keen hard worker and think that my work can speak for itself over a bit of time, im a fast learner and always seek to increase my knowledge were ever I can and am seeking this opportunity to go forward in my future. im reliable and honest above all and generally get on well with most whilst having a laugh were possible. 'Collin worked for me about four years ago, for 14-16 months. He covered all general farm duties, and was responsible for everything that happened in the milking shed. His work ethic was alright, he was never late and never complained. Communication wasn’t great, we were operating with mobile phones when he was with us and he didn’t have one which made it hard, once we started using radios it became much easier. I had no issues with Collin at all, I would have him back again if he was looking for work. '

'Mark worked for us at seeding driving an air seeder. He also drove a loader and various other bits and pieces. He was good. He took a bit to get used to it because it was higher tech than he was used to but he picked it up well. He looked after the machinery, didn't abuse it. He could work by himself and fitted in with the team well. He was reliable and always turned up on time.'

'She was with us for about 10 months, finished about a month ago. We are a cotton growing company, most of her work was on the irrigation. She was starting pipes, tractor work, row cropping, operating a small excavator. She came to us pretty green but picked everything up really quickly, once you taught her something you didn’t have to go back and teach her again. She was performing basic maintenance on machinery and doing oil changes on stationary engines. She was punctual and reliable. Her communication skills are ok, she is a quiet girl and you have to coax conversation out of her, she is polite though. It was a shame she had to leave. I wrote her a really good reference letter, from what I understand she is looking for a position with more of a livestock focus. '
