'Works on and off for me as required. Does spraying for me, as I can no longer. Helps me with cattle work, have some touchy cows in the yards. He is really great with cattle, he does all the needling, he has worked on properties in the top. If you give him a job he will go and it. Not self-motivated. Needs to be asked, he won’t take initiative. Communication is pretty good, he is a good worker. I don’t have any trouble. Punctual and reliable. He is happy to do extra work to do, happy to stay. Tells me if made a mistake or has a problem. Very trustworthy, I trust him with machinery and keys. Fencing, cattle work, machinery operation. If I had full time work for me I would have him on. Would be great to go and work for someone.'

    Information

I am an agricultural science and business student with a background in the industry having grown up on a small, family owned and operated, beef cattle enterprise. I am passionate about establishing a lifelong career in the agricultural sector, and I am motivated to use every opportunity given to me to gain industry experience. My current goal is to improve upon my practical skills by working on cattle properties, in order to build a foundation of practical knowledge that I can rely on in any future opportunities throughout the industry. I am prepared for the hard work that is required when working on a station and I am keen to succeed.

'Kimberley has been working on and off with us over the last five years. She first came to help with shearing, she came with no experience but was so willing to step up and have a go, she became quite proficient. She has that common sense you would expect of someone that has grown up on the land. She is always asking what needs doing next and if she can help with anything. She helped us with fencing, cattle work, sheep (mustering, drafting, drenching, roustabout). She is always first up in the morning, very punctual and reliable. She lives in our house when he is working for us, she is just as helpful and pleasant in the house as she is at work. We are very happy for her to work unsupervised. Would definitely recommend Kimberley. '

'Nick worked on and off, part time for us for about two years. Mostly, stock work, fencing, weed control, feeding sheep, not a lot of farming but he did help me prepare equipment and machinery. When he came here he knew nothing, he learnt a lot quite quickly, when he left I would have said his skills were a 7/10. He was very reliable, punctual and trustworthy. He worked alongside me and my wife mostly, occasionally when we were lamb marking and things there would be a few more blokes and he always got on well with everyone, never any dramas. I’d recommend him for future employment. '

I am a farmer's son in France. We grow cereals such as durum wheat, barley, rapeseed, corn, soybeans and something else but we ensile because we also have a dairy herd. I drive a lot of different tractors because we have several types on the farm to limit the risk of breakage. I know how to work as a team because on the family farm we are 4 associates and 3 employees. And on the dairy farm in New Zealand we were 5 employees and the boss.

'I have known Kaidyn for 12 years, he was a young boy when he first started coming to our sheep station near Brewarrina. He would help mustering, help with anything at all. My late husband taught him a lot about the land, sheep and farming. He was a good kid, keen to get in and have a go, learn and just wanted to work. Kaidyn stopped helping us about three years ago when my husband passed. Kaidyn is a very honest, upfont, wonderful young man. I think he would make any employer happy.'

'Thomas did general bistro work for us (washing dishes, taking orders, serving food etc.). He was very good. His English wasn't great when he started but was much better by the end. He was reliable and punctual. He learnt things quickly which was good. I think he would be better suited to farm work than bistro work but I would personally hire him again. '

'William worked with us for 12 months. He's a good lad. We run about 40 000 head of beef cattle across 7 pastoral properties so he's been mustering, branding, tagging, trucking and anything else we've had to do with the stock. He's also had experience with bore maintenance and bore-running, fencing, welding etc. He was involved in a lot of mustering on a two wheel motorbike. I didn't have him operating any heavy machinery but he operated a fork lift and tractor. He was careful with the equipment. He's multi-skilled, self-motivated and a team player. He'd pick up a pastoral job anywhere. He’s very good with the cattle. He could work on his own or in a team. He would take instructions on board. I would say he's above average. I can't fault him to be honest. Our company would not hesitate to employ him again in the future'

'We had never met David before he started working for us. We took a risk and hired him based on the opinion of someone else that we knew. We weren’t disappointed. It turned out to be a very positive experience for us! David was very knowledgable with equipment and bigger cultural practises that were used on the farm. He was a major asset in equipment maintenance and repair. He was extremely punctual and very agreeable to work. '

'Ana & Josie (3689) looked after our horses in Sydney for some time and then came back to the farm for a couple of months. While they were at the farm they looked after everything; Horses, Sheep, Cattle Gardening, they were excellent. I don’t generally do this but I contacted a friend and referred the girls on to their next job in the Kimberley, that’s how highly we think of them. Their communication is good, they speak English, if they could not understand they would ask me to explain again. We are very fond of them and would highly recommend them.'

Finishing my visa farm work at the end of March and looking for something to keep me going until closer to June time until the snow season starts! Very hard working (2 days off in 3 months record!) A very quick learner and very keen to learn new things too! My farm work for visa included irrigation pipe moving in Lucerne hay and loader experience loading bales onto/off trucks. Learnt about some sheep work but didn't work that closely with them.

'He is coming up to third month here with us, the end of his 88 days. He has been a general farm labourer, hasn’t done much machinery, but a lot of the heavy lifting stuff. He has been really good. He had never worked on a farm before, you can see that in some things although he is not shying away from any work I have given him. He has done everything well. He works hard – has a great work which that has really impressed me. He is pleasant to have around and reliable & punctual. He is always keen for work and has impressed me with the tasks he has got through. I haven’t put him in much machinery, so I can’t vouch for him in that respect although he has been really good for what we have needed him for. I have been really happy to have Wilson work here. (Michael) Having Wilson work for us has been a very positive experience. He has been doing a variety of work – a lot of moving pipes for irrigation, fencing, all-rounder. Physical farm tasks; mixed bag. Very obliging young man. Everyone here speaks very highly of him. (Sally)'
