'Eric has worked on our property a couple of times and is fantastic. He wants to work hard, is handy and always willing to help out. Eric has worked with our livestock including sheep, cattle and goats, has painted for us, and looked after general farm duties while we were away. Eric is switched on and capable and we would welcome him back anytime. '

    Information

I am a 26 year old woman from Estonia and I am looking for farm work. As I have grown up in the countryside I am no stranger to farm life. My family grows a lot of its own food and I have also been involved in that. I have planted different crops, maintained them through growing period, picked and sorted them. When I was 17 I started working in Vikerkaare farm as a berry picker in the summer, I really liked the job and I worked there for 4 more summers. When I was 20 I started working in a busy clothes store where I had 12 hour shifts. For a year and a half I also had a second job in a club. From 2012 to 2017 I also went to college, so during that time I understood what hard work is and I know I’m not afraid of it. I have had a lot of work experience in a team and because of that I know how to consider with others needs and value everybody’s skills. For the past year and a half I was an assistant manager in a clothes store which made me even more of a team player. I have no problem with leading a team and training new and old workers.

'Bradly left us about 6 weeks ago under unfortunate and unforeseen circumstances. Wasn’t with us long, although I would have loved to have kept him on, no worries at all. I really liked him, he was really keen and wanted to do a good job. His work was good. He was driving tractors, hay bailing, raking, staking, general farm work. Communication was good, no issues there. Punctual and reliable. I’d recommend Bradly.'

'This review is based on Mitchell's performance in a training context. I know him as a student of Cert IV Agriculture at Tocal College. He didn't have a lot of experience on farm before coming to the college but has gained experience in his holidays on farm. He is fairly mechanically minded. He is quiet and seems casual but feedback from the college dairy and work experience placements has been extremely positive. he was described as 'working his guts out' to get the job done. '

'Bernie has been with me 18 months at the local pharmacy, mainly in customer service. She’s fine, good with people, gets on well with everyone. No issues with Bernie. Punctuality is fine, she likes to have long weekends here and there. When she is required to be there 95% of time she shows up. Early 20’s. Communication skills are good, if she has any issues she lets me know. When she is at work she is fine, once she is told what to do she does it. Diligent in doing tasks.'

Have my Certification 3/4 in Agriculture. Have years of experience with livestock handling and motorbikes. Can ride a horse also. Also have completed my Auschem training. I have a huge passion for the sheep industry and have loved every moment working in the shearing sheds the last 4 years as well as growing up on our sheep and cattle farm. 'Maddie worked with us as part of contracting teams as both a rouseabout and during lambing marking. She has a good work ethic, happy to give everything a go from picking up lambs to working on the cradle, she never had an issue with anything asked of her and completed all tasks asked of here. She is a friendly, casual, happy person to have as part of a team. I would have no issue employing her in a full time capacity.'

'Jack worked for me for about 12 months as a Farm Hand/Machinery Driver. We have a cattle/cropping enterprise and he was more involved in the cropping side of things but was very capable with cattle when he got the chance to work with them. He was responsible for operating the air seeder, spray rig and did a bit of truck driving (B-Double). He's a good young kid. he's got an ability to listen and learn and carry out what you ask of him. At times, he may have wandered a little to do things his way but he learnt and changed a lot over the 12 months he was with us. I was disappointed to see him go as he left a hole in our enterprise. He was keen to move on to progress his career. I would definitely take him back. '

Currently in a Farm Hand role on a beef cattle property and looking to make the next step in my career. The property I am on has 1000 breeders with a backgrounding operation. I grew up on a larger scale mixed farm with sheep (merino), cattle and cropping property in the Liverpool Plains. I have worked on an irrigated cropping business and in that role was responsible for working with dorpers also. I have had experience up north on the border of WA and NT working on a cattle station. In that role I completed a low stress cattle handing course with Jim Lindsay and a Horsemanship course. I have working dogs and 2 horses.

'Pete has worked for me on a few separate occasions now, when I was contracting (fencing & stock work) for myself and more recently on the place I’m managing now. For me he’s done stock work, cattle mostly but I know he is pretty handy with sheep. Plenty of fencing. Loader & Dozer operation when we have been cleaning up country and general tractor operation – everything involved in farm development really. He grew up on a mixed sheep & cattle place. We use horses, dogs and bikes and he is really competent with the lot. He go got good stock handling skills. He’s great, as I said he has worked for me a fair few times over the years, he can go pretty hard. He’s great, I would recommend him. '

    Information

My name is Steve Robinson. I’m a fit, healthy, 43 yo roof carpenter from Perth Western Australia. I am looking for a stock hand position with cattle, but I will work anywhere at the moment. I have been a carpenter for 18 years and ran my own business Holdfast Carpentry for 13 years. We specialized in 2 story inserts, extensions and additions. I was a Combat Engineer in the Army Reserve in the 90’s where we used many tools and plant for construction. This included using chainsaws, lots of fencing and bridging, front-end loaders and Mack dump trucks. I have spent the last 3 years resting after 6 day work weeks over the last 2 decades in the trades by doing hospital security full time. I still work on the roofs most weeks with my builder friends to maintain my fitness and skills. Clearly I don’t have a lot of farm hand experience, however I can turn my hand to anything and am interested in learning a new career, working physically hard and mastering the role. What I am good at is identifying solutions to problems and applying those solutions to maintain momentum. Due to my role running a number carpentry teams for decades I have the skills to manage several projects at once, and develop systems to maintain their efficiency and continued success. I have a family that would be moving with me, my wife of 20 years and 2 boys, 9 yo and 18 months old. They might follow a month or two after I find a farm to work on where we work well together. Because of my family, it would be a bonus if there were accommodation included in any remuneration package. My wife and I are looking forward to a change to the country, and learning to work the land. My wife is keen to find a role to fill wherever we end up as well. She was also a Combat Engineer as well as a bush firefighter and has been a cartographer for the last 20 years. My wife and I both grew up in country areas, and I used to knock around on sheep and cattle stations in the Pilbara during school holidays as a kid. Its time to get our two boys out into the country to learn to work, and to get ourselves back into a realistic environment. My body is longing for early starts and physical labor again. I also ride a motorbike daily and have some limited horse riding experience that I’m keen to expand on. I don’t smoke, I don’t drink anymore, I don’t get sick and I lift and run regularly. That means no hangovers and no “young people’ dramas. I’m really keen for an opportunity to work with someone like you in a long-term position and learn the skills required to excel in the industry. I can send my CV if you’re interested in learning more about me. Thanks for your time, please contact me if you think I could be an asset to you. Steve Robinson. 0468965152 steve7540@outlook.com
