We are looking for an Overseer to join the Mackinnon family team which includes several enterprises: Angus Seedstock (Ebony Beef Angus), Commercial Beef and Sheep producing Merino Wool and Fat Lambs via a 1st cross ewe system. Specifically, Rocklands runs approximately 6000 Merino breeding ewes. Position: Reporting directly to the property owners, the Livestock Overseer is to reside at Rocklands (Balmoral) and action all necessary daily tasks associated with a Livestock Farm, including the supervision of staff and contractors. Travel to other properties within the business to complete livestock jobs will be seasonal and as required. This is to be anticipated at 1 – 2 days per week away from Rocklands working on other properties. Specific Responsibilities: • Hands on management of livestock as dictated by annual farm plan and maintain accurate records of all livestock numbers, spraying history, sowing history and dates jobs are completed. • Management of animal health, husbandry and supplementary feeding • Facilitate maintenance of plant, equipment and infrastructure (in particular fencing and water points) • Ensure all activities are completed efficiently, productively and safely within OH+S guidelines. Skills and Experience: • Lifetime Ewe Management favourable / sound understanding of livestock nutrition requirements • Tertiary study in Agriculture favourable • Good working dogs required • Minimum 3 year’s experience with working with Sheep. Cattle experience favourable. • Sound communication skills and ability to follow instructions • Accurate stock record keeping abilities (Competent Microsoft Excel knowledge favourable) • Minimum of basic mechanical knowledge for necessary farm plant operation and maintenance. • Must be fit, punctual, motivated and able to work in a team or on their own. Remuneration: A competitive salary package is to be negotiated based on experience (please disregard hourly rate. Salary will be commensurate with experience). Work vehicle provided for local use and comfortable accommodation on property is included. Property is located 8kms from Balmoral, which has a P-12 school, services and vibrant community.
